Kentucky FAIR Plan Reinsurance Association

The Kentucky FAIR Plan was established pursuant to KRS Chapter 304, Subtitle 35. The purpose is to establish and maintain a non-profit residual market mechanism whereby Property Insurance and Casualty Insurance can be made available to all worthy applicants and to distribute equitably the costs, losses, or gains, if any, arising therefrom among all members of the Plan and the related reinsurance association created and existing pursuant to the FAIR Plan Statutes.

Revised Coverage A Maximums:

Effective July 1, 2012 the maximum building coverage A is being increased from $150,000 to $200,000. Commercial limits are unchanged. Please refer to the coverage minimums and maximums located in the manuals.

 

Online Assistance for Producers:

We urge producers to take advantage of the website for:

  • Online quoting: All products offered by the Plan may be quoted.

  • Payment Inquiry: Payment inquiry includes basic policy, payment and claim status.  Your User ID is your FAIR Plan Agency # and your Password is the last 4 digits of your tax ID # or SSN.

  • Online Loss Notice:  We urge you to report loss notices online as this helps our staff provide better service to our policyholders.

  • Online Change Notice:  May be used to request simple policy changes.  Please be aware that additional coverage must be approved by the Underwriter before additional coverage is bound.

  • Online Payments: Policyholders with a checking or savings account now have the ability to pay renewal or installment payments online.

  • Producer Copies of Documents:  Effective 7/1/2012 PDF copies of all policy information sent to the insured will be available online. Click Producer/Payment and Claim Inquiry tabs.

Rate Changes

The Plan has filed and received approval for rate changes for all lines of business. The changes will be effective for both new and renewal policies effective April 1, 2013.
The overall changes are:

  • Dwelling Fire             -4.1%
  • Homeowner               +0.5%
  • Commercial and
    Farm Fire                   -12%

The individual rates will vary depending on the territory and protection class.

Electronic Application

Producers now have the capability to complete and submit Homeowner and Dwelling Fire applications electronically. This electronic submission will help to ensure the accuracy of the information and will assist to reduce the time necessary for processing.

Continuing Education Class

The Kentucky FAIR Plan has partnered with the Kentucky Automobile Insurance Plan to offer a 2 hour CE webinar course outlining each Plan's policies and procedures. Refer to the "Bulletin" under the "Producers" tab for more information.

 

New Products

Effective July 1, 2012, the following new policy forms are available.

  • Dwelling Fire DP-2: (ACV) actual cash value loss settlement provision applies.

  • Homeowners HO-2: (ACV) actual cash value loss settlement provision applies and theft is limited to 10% of the contents limit or $5,000.

  • Homeowners HO-4: Maximum contents limit is $25,000 and theft is limited to 10% of the contents limit or $5,000.

  • Homeowners HO-6: (ACV) actual cash value loss settlement provision applies and theft is limited to 10% of the contents limit or $5,000.  Maximum contents limit is $25,000.
